Mark Cioc (University of California-Santa Cruz, USA): Roundtable discussion Rivers in History.
Mark Cioc is Professor of History at the University of California-Santa Cruz. and Editor of the journal Environmental History.
He received his Ph.D. in History from the University of
California-Berkeley in 1986 and prior to teaching at Santa Cruz, taught
at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst from 1987-1989. His most
recent publications include The Rhine: An Eco-Biography, 1815-2000 (Seattle: University of Washington Press, 2002) and a co-edited anthology How Green Were the Nazis? (Athens: Ohio University Press, 2005). He is currently working on a book-length manuscript, The Game of Conservation: International Treaties to Protect the World's Migratory Animals, 1900-1948.
